The Mini Dachshund is pure personality in a small body: brave, curious, a lion inside and a clown outside. With that unmistakable long silhouette and short little legs, few breeds pack more charisma per pound. At Puppy Land PR we raise AKC long-haired Mini Dachshunds in spectacular colors like chocolate dapple.
Small but mighty temperament
Adult weight runs 9-11 pounds. Devoted to family, playful and alert — yes, they announce visitors and bark more than other breeds. They have a reputation for stubbornness in training: it's not that they don't understand, it's that they negotiate. They shine with patient or experienced owners. Unlike poodles and doodles, their coat sheds — not the best pick for allergy homes — but grooming is minimal.
Care rule #1: the back
Their long body makes the breed prone to spine issues. Golden rules: limit stairs, no jumping from tall furniture (use ramps), keep a healthy weight, and always carry them supporting both ends of the body. With that care, they are sturdy, long-lived companions — 12 to 16 years.
